New scholarship to J-Camp

Posted

(401)j, a group of dynamic Jews ages 20s to mid-40s who are dedicated to building a thriving Jewish collaboration in the 401 area code, has announced the creation of a scholarship for Summer J-Camp at the Alliance’s Dwares Jewish Community Center, in Providence.

“(401)j has created this scholarship for J-Camp because it is an investment in the future of the Rhode Island Jewish community,” said Ryan Forman, chairman of the (401)j board. “Positive experiences are gained by participating in camp. J-Camp has had, and continues to have, an impact in the growing of our future generations.”

Through fundraising at events and generous donations from group members, (401)j was able to offer a full-week scholarship, called

“(401)j Goes to Camp,” for a camper this coming summer.  The hope is that each year this scholarship will grow, and eventually will be able to fund a camper – or campers – for J-Camp for a full summer.

The scholarship is open to anyone in the community, Jewish or non-Jewish, who would like to send his or her child to J-Camp and has financial need.

“It has been a pleasure seeing (401)j’s passion for this project,” said Adam Greenman, president and CEO of the Alliance.
