PROVIDENCE – Central Falls Rep. Shelby Maldonado is relocating to New York City to become the Hispanic outreach director of the American Israeli Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC). She has resigned the District 56 seat in the House of Representatives, which she has held since January 2015, effective immediately, according to a statement issued by the House. A second-year student at Roger Williams University School of Law, Maldonado intends to transfer to a New York law school.  more
A vigil of solidarity for the recently desecrated Hebrew Cemetery in Fall River will take place on Tuesday, March 26 at 5:30 p.m. at the cemetery, 73 McMahon St., Fall River. The vigil will be led by Rabbi Mark Elber and Cantor Shoshanna Brown of Temple Beth El in Fall River. Those in attendance will include members of the Jewish, Christian and Muslim communities as well as members of the Jewish War Veterans, VFW, Massachusetts National Guard and others.  more
