April 5 program shines spotlight on ‘Glass Art in Israel’

Posted

Israeli glass artist Ariel Aravot will present a virtual program, “Glass Art in Israel,” on April 5 as part of the Israeli Culture Series.

Aravot, who is an MFA student in the Glass Department at the Rhode Island School of Design, will run through a brief history of glass, from Roman times to today’s glass movement, as well as telling his own story.

Aravot graduated from the Ceramics and Glass Department at the Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design, in Jerusalem, in 2020. While he specializes in glass blowing, he is also engaged in music, cooking and sugar-blowing. He grew up in the village of Yuvalim, in the Galilee.

Programs in the Jewish Alliance of Greater Rhode Island’s Israeli Culture Series usually take place on the second Wednesday of each month. However, due to Passover, this program will be on Tuesday, April 5, at 7 p.m., on Zoom. There is no charge. To register, go to https://www.jewishallianceri.org/glass-art.

For more information, contact Amit Moshe Oren, the Israeli shaliach (emissary) to the Jewish Alliance, at 401-421-4111, ext. 121 or aoren@jewishallianceri.org.
