Making their voices heard

The Rhode Island Coalition for Israel initiated a direct action campaign aimed at triggering a consumer boycott of ice cream manufacturer Ben & Jerry’s products.
On Sept. 19, the first of a planned series of rallies took place with over a dozen pro-Israel activists turning out at Dave’s Marketplace Plaza in East Greenwich.
A second rally, pictured above, took place on Oct. 17 at Stop and Shop on Branch Avenue in Providence. RICI leadership spoke to the store manager, who agreed to pass along RICI’s concerns about Ben & Jerry’s. The company announced in July that it was withdrawing sales of products in what it called “the Occupied Palestinian Territory” of Israel.
RICI is a 4-year old grassroots activist organization of Christians and Jews whose stated mission is supporting the U.S.-Israel alliance and fighting anti-Semitism in all its manifestations.
