On Tuesday, Feb. 7, Mitzi Berkelhammer chairs a community discussion with the Jewish Alliance of Greater Rhode Island and Hazon on building the Jewish community guided by the shared values of building a sustainable future.
Joining in the conversation will be Jakir Manela, CEO of Hazon, and Rachel Siegal, chief development officer of Hazon, as they highlight the work of Hazon, followed by a community conversation on opportunities to work collaboratively to address climate change as an organized Jewish community.
Hazon, according to its mission statement, is "leading a transformative movement weaving sustainability into the fabric of Jewish life, in order to create a healthier, more sustainable and more equitable world for all."
Berkelhammer served as chair of the Alliance board from 2016-2019. She now serves on the board of the Jewish Federation Foundation. Members of the Rhode Island community might recognize Siegal, who was Women's Alliance Director from 2003-2005.
"A Jewish Response to Climate Change: A Briefing and Conversation with Hazon" is free and will be held from 6:30-8 p.m. at the Dwares Jewish Community Center in Providence. It is open to all, but you must register at www.jewishallianceri.org/hazon.
