Alliance Director of Jewish Learning Larry Katz and his wife, Marilyn, recently visited Afula’s Gavanim School, where an Alliance-funded Smart classroom guides teaching and learning.

Katz observed a math lesson in one of three classrooms currently using the Smart Board along with laptop computers that supplement it. The third grade students he observed were very involved in the lesson, some even demonstrating their understanding to the rest of the class using the Smart Board.

Gavanim School educators stay at school long after 6:00 p.m. on Sundays for professional training so their classroom use of Smart Boards and auxiliary laptops can be streamlined and effective.

To date, World ORT has provided 27 Smart Classrooms in 7 schools throughout Afula.
