Eleanor (Rosenblum) Roth, 84

NORTH DARTMOUTH, MASS. – Eleanor (Rosenblum) Roth, died January 9. She was the wife of Bernard Norman Roth and the mother of Jeffrey David Roth, M.D., of Chicago, Laurie (Roth) Bennett, J.D., of St. Louis, and Susan (Roth) Rose of Cranston.  She was the grandmother of Isaac, Hannah and Michael Roth, Kurt and Melissa Bennett, and Michael and Rebecca Rose.

Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., she was a graduate of Albany State Teachers College. She lived in a number of locations, including the Republic of Singapore, Xi’an, China, Santa Rosa, Calif., but always came back to North Dartmouth, Mass., where she resided since 1971.

She was a published author.  Her most recent novel, Rainbow Dust, was published in 2005. She has a list of fiction and non-fiction publications.

She was an active member of Tifereth Israel Congregation in New Bedford, Mass.  She was a tutor at Our Sisters School in New Bedford, and had taught English at a number of colleges, including in Xi’an, China.

She shared a passion for travel with her husband and together, they circumnavigated the planet twice. Her great love of the outdoors included a life-long zest for skiing, swimming and bicycling. Her son-in-law recently introduced her to kayaking.

Burial was at Plainville Cemetery.   Contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society, St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, Tifereth Israel Congregation, or the Hadassah Medical Organization.
