CRANSTON, R.I. – Eleanor “Ellie” Sugerman (Diamond) passed away surrounded by her family on May 3, 2025.
Born in Providence, she was the beloved wife of the late Everett Sugerman for 58 years and daughter of the late Maurice and Mary Diamond. She lived most of her early life in Providence and Pawtucket; later in both Delray Beach, Florida, and Narragansett; and finally at the home of her son and daughter-in-law, in Cranston, for the past 11 years.
Ellie enjoyed traveling the world with her husband, including their time in Panama with the U.S. Army. She worked at Ann & Hope as a vacuum demonstrator and as an assistant in Everett’s metal fabrication company office. She enjoyed games of mahjong, sitting by chair 5 at Narragansett Town Beach and dinners with the ladies. She was an avid dog lover and Red Sox fan and always had room for dessert, especially anything chocolate.
Ellie leaves behind her children, Michael Sugerman, and his wife, Susan, of Cranston; and Mark Sugerman and his wife, Mary-Kay, of Wausau, Wisconsin. She was the beloved Nana to Jonathan and his wife, Amelia, and their son, Cole Everett; Jared and his partner, Aimee Bowater; and Rory and Ryan Sugerman.
The family wishes to thank her dear caregivers, Vicki and Charlotte, and the many others from VNA of Care New England who helped her in so many ways. Contributions may be made to VNA of Care New England, 51 Health Lane, Warwick, RI 02886 or to the Hotel For Homeless Dogs in Cumberland or a charity of your choice.
