PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Irene Horowitz died July 1 at Wingate Residences. She was the beloved wife of the late Jerome Horowitz. Born in San Antonio, Texas, and raised in New York City, a daughter of the late Samuel and Sophie (Pinelis) Garber, she was a longtime resident of Providence. Irene was an avid bridge and canasta player, and a member of the RI Bridge Club. She enjoyed traveling the world with Jerry and sharing her experiences while entertaining family and friends. 

She was the devoted mother of Steven Horowitz and his wife, Cynthia, of Narragansett; Robin Bautista and her partner, Robert, of Cumberland; and the late Sidney Horowitz and his surviving wife, Carol, of Deltona, Florida. She was the dear sister of the late Louis Garber, Tex Fein and Sidney Garber.  She was the loving grandmother of Sharon (Michael), Jeremy (Megan), Jaime, Rachel (Chris), Lindsay (Bobby), Kaile and the late Jeffrey (Tammy).  She was the cherished great-grandmother of 10 and great-great-grandmother of one.
