CRANSTON, R.I. — Joyce Sandra Singer Lee, 72, died at HopeHealth Hulitar Hospice Center Sept. 5 after a 2.5-year illness.

Married in 1978, she felt privileged to call herself the fortunate wife of her late husband Terrence E. Lee, who died in 2025. They built a beautiful life together, filled with travel adventures, and had good friends and family times. The highlight of these was the amazing vacation she and her family shared.

Joyce was a cherished mother to her devoted children, Daniel Lee and his wife Tiffany, of West Warwick, Rhode Island, and Andrea Lee, of Walpole, Massachusetts. Additionally, Joyce took special delight in being the adored Nana or Nannie to the two lights of her life: her beloved grandchildren Zachary Lee and McKenna Lee. Joyce was a major presence in their lives from birth, starting with babysitting daily to attending sporting events and Irish step dancing competitions.

Born in Providence, Joyce was the daughter of the late Robert Singer of Boston and Eleanor (Silverman) Singer of Providence. She was the beloved sister of Patti Singer of Rochester, New York. She leaves her cousins to hold tightly to the memories of the times they had together. Joyce leaves Terrence’s family to hold on to the life they shared.

Joyce graduated from Cranston High School East in 1971 and the University of Rhode Island in 1975.

After 19 years as a stay-at-home mother raising her children, Joyce began her medical research career at The Miriam Hospital and then Brown University and Women & Infants Hospital of Rhode Island. She found this work rewarding and always appreciated those who stepped forward to help.

Joyce treasured her many long-standing, deep friendships, some of which stretch back to childhood, high school, college, the workplace, the Edgewood community and her wonderful Williams Avenue family. She was very thankful for all the help and support she received.
