Just added to the calendar: Hanukkah events!

The City of Providence Hanukkah “Spectaculah” is a free community celebration that brings food, music, drinks, candle-lighting and art to Biltmore Park in downtown Providence on Sunday, Dec. 5, from 3 to 6 p.m. The Department of Art, Culture + Tourism, in collaboration with the Jewish Alliance of Greater Rhode Island, Brown RISD Hillel, the Board of Rabbis of Greater Rhode Island, Kosher for the People and Congregation Beth Sholom, invites everyone to enjoy live klezmer music, a cash bar, complimentary Hanukkah treats, participatory art-making and other performances suitable for all ages and abilities.

The Providence skating rink will be featuring Hanukkah music, and the Trinity Brewhouse Kiosk will be open.

Chabad centers in Rhode Island will celebrate the 2021 Hanukkah season with a grand Car Menorah Parade on Sunday, Dec. 5, at 3:45 p.m., departing from each Chabad center and traveling to meet in Providence. The parade will end at the State House with the outdoor lighting of a giant Hanukkah menorah. State dignitaries will attend.  A Hanukkah concert  and entertainment will follow.

Project Shoresh will distribute a Hanukkah gift that includes a menorah, super-sized chocolate gelt, candles and a dreidel. Beginning Friday, Nov. 19, the package will be available at no cost near the front door of the Dwares Jewish Community Center, 401 Elmgrove Ave., Providence.
