Leonard Rotenberg, 97


PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Leonard A. Rotenberg passed July 17 at HopeHealth Hulitar Hospice Center. He was the beloved husband of Ruth (Limer) Rotenberg for 75 years. He was a son of the late Adolph and Jennie (Pepper) Rotenberg, stepson of George Solinger and was a lifelong resident of Providence. 

He was the owner of Reliable Gold Ltd. in Providence for 58 years, retiring in 2004. Leonard was a graduate of Hope High School, Class of ’43, and attended RI School of Design. He was a WWII Army Veteran, serving in the European Theater. Leonard was a longtime member of Temple Emanu-El. 

He was the devoted father of Rena Abeles of Providence and Dr. Fred Rotenberg (Sally) of Providence. He was the dear brother of the late Leo, Joseph and Samuel Rotenberg, Max Lewis, Frieda Furie and Edith Smith. He was the loving grandfather of Sarah Abeles (Patrick Montané), Jordan Abeles, Benjamin Rotenberg (Juliet), David Rotenberg and Dr. James Rotenberg (Naomi). He was the cherished great-grandfather of Ethan, Noa, Dahlia and Judah.
