EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Lillian B. Bernstein died Oct. 13 at R.I. Hospital. She was the beloved wife of the late Robert L. Bernstein. Born in Haverhill, Mass., a daughter of the late Wadsworth and Agnes (Leonard) Burrill, she had lived in East Providence for over 50 years, previously living in Providence.

She was a life member of the Jewish Chautauqua Society; a life member and past officer of Hadassah; a member of Kiwanis International Fdn., where she received the Tablet of Honor; a member of JFRI; Temple Beth-El and its sisterhood, where she served as vice president; Miriam Hospital Women’s Assn., where she was a founder, past president and recipient of the 1994 Outstanding Woman of the Year Award; and she served on the board of Ben Gurion University.

Devoted mother of Roderick M. Bernstein and his wife, Gloria, of Cranston; Joel S. Bernstein and his wife, Jean, of East Providence; and the late Sheryl L. Bernstein. Dear sister of Irving Burrill of Newburyport, Mass., and the late Leonard Burrill.
