Community, learning at Evening of Jewish Renaissance

PROVIDENCE – On Saturday, Nov. 4,  at the Dwares Jewish Community Center, “The Evening of Jewish Renaissance,” drew a crowd of over 200 people to learn and participate in Jewish community. Over the course of two evening sessions, participants were invited to explore topics that ranged from Torah study in the aisles of the grocery store, whiskey production in Israel, the Jewish tradition of worrying, “How the Talmud Can Change Your Life  to haroset, salt, and even chewing.

The night began with a Havdalah service led by Rabbi Barry Dolinger and Rabbi Emily Goldberg Winer of Congregation Beth Shalom, which was followed by short remarks from Jewish Alliance President and CEO Adam Greenman and a moment of silence for those still held hostage by Hamas. Between sessions, refreshments were available in the lobby and books were available for at the end of the evening.  

The program was presented by the Dr. James Yashar & Judge Margorie Yashar Fund at the Jewish Federation Foundation.
